The short version
Stargazer's Hill doesn't collect any information about you. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and the game doesn't send anything over the internet. If you buy the Observatory Pass, the App Store or Google Play handles it.
What the game stores
Your progress (your logbook, photographs, telescopes and gear, quests and achievements), your astronomer's name and look, your home sky and your settings are saved on your device, so you can pick up where you left off. They never leave your device, except as part of your device's own backups if you use them. Deleting the app deletes this data, and Settings → Start over in the game wipes your progress at any time.
Your location
To show the sky over your own backyard, you can set your home by tapping a map, or by tapping Use my location. Only if you tap that does the game ask your device for your location, once. It keeps it rounded to about a kilometre, on your device only, and never sends it anywhere. You can change or move your home at any time.
Sharing your photos
When you share a photo, the game makes the picture or clip on your device and hands it to the share sheet or app you choose; it doesn't upload anything itself. A share card shows what you photographed, your astronomer's name, and where and when you observed, including the site's coordinates rounded to a tenth of a degree (about 10 km). For your backyard, that's your home's area, so set your home to a nearby town if you'd rather not show it.
The Observatory Pass purchase
The Observatory Pass is the game's one purchase, and it's optional. If you buy it, the App Store or Google Play handles the purchase, through Apple's or Google's own purchase system on your device: we have no server and no account of yours, and we never see your name, your store account or your payment details. Apple's or Google's privacy policy covers the purchase itself.
The game only asks the store, on your device, whether the Pass belongs to your store account, so it can unlock it (and restore it on a new device). It keeps nothing about the purchase but a single note in its save on your device that you have the Pass, so it works offline. Nothing about it is sent to us.
What the game reads on your device
The game reads your device's clock and time zone to show tonight's real sky. None of this is recorded or sent anywhere.
Information we collect
